Charla: Why Free/Open-Source Software Matters

Descripción: Software is a new medium that has changed and is continuing to change our society.There is currently a struggle between different interests: those who want to control the new medium for various reasons  and those who want control over this new medium to remain transparent and the medium itself to remain accessible to the individual. Dr. Schütz will give a presentation of this situation and the opportunities that Free/Open-Source Software (FOSS) provides with respect to economic and educational concerns.
