Due to the increasingly competitive nature of today’s business and the everchanging job market, internships have certainly become an important part of a student’s training/education. Internships have grown substantially and employers welcome the process, recognizing that internships are the best way to ensure a good stream of reliable incoming talent for their specific staffing needs.Internships assist both the intern and the employer in evaluating each others compatibility. An organization’s culture and work environment, and an employee’s personality and performance are only a few of the areas where internships can provide invaluable insight. An internship can be a deciding factor for new graduates over those candidates who have not interned. Employers are willing to invest the time to train the intern since employers are always in need of good talent and they have ample time to assess such talent during an internship.

Students are willing to invest the time into an internship since they are looking for a good employer and willing to take advantage of the opportunity to assess the work environment of their host. Companies often dip into their own pool of interns when hiring since these interns are known to the employer, and they are versed with the specific skills sets the employer seeks.
