Los internados de investigación en verano te permiten desarrollar destrezas de investigación y prepararte para escuela graduada. Estas experiencias son muy enriquecedoras para estudiantes subgraduados, y el tenerlas te distingue y favorece enormemente al momento de solicitar admisión a escuelas graduadas o de buscar empleos.  Cabe señalar también que estos internados no tienen costo alguno.  Por el contrario, si te eligen, te cubren gastos de viaje, estadía, comida y proveen estipendios..

2. The Leadership Alliance Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR-EIP)

The Leadership Alliance Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR-EIP), offers undergraduates, interested in pursuing a PhD or MD-PhD, the opportunity to work for eight to ten weeks under the guidance of a faculty or research mentor at a participating Alliance institution. Through this one-on-one collaboration, students gain theoretical knowledge and practical training in academic research and scientific experimentation. The SR-EIP is designed to encourage students from groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, social sciences and humanities to consider research careers in the academic, public or private sectors. Students are required to present a written report and/or abstract at the end of their summer research activity and complete a program evaluation. All participants are expected to make oral or poster presentations of their research at the Leadership Alliance’s annual, national symposium. This all expense paid summer internship provides students with a competitive stipend, travel and housing.

8. University of California Berkeley:  Summer Research Opportunity Program- UC-Berkeley

The program offers summer research opportunities in the arts and humanities, social sciences, and physical sciences for sophomores, juniors, and seniors (not graduating in the summer or spring of 2012, except UC Berkeley students). The National Science Foundation generously provides funding for SROP Psychology students in the field of Social Cultural Processes in Development and Mental Health. SROP also accommodates students interested in applying to law school. It is an eight-week program that will commence on Sunday, June 3, 2012, and continue through Saturday, July 28, 2012.

10. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign: Summer Research Opportunities Program

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers a summer research program that provides undergraduate students from populations underrepresented in graduate study at Illinois with an opportunity to explore careers in research. The program at Illinois provides each student with an experience that will help strengthen his or her knowledge, skills, and understanding of graduate school. The many activities offered through the Summer Research Opportunities Program will afford participants an opportunity to establish important relationships with faculty in their respective fields of study, conduct graduate-level research under the supervision of a University of Illinois renowned faculty member, become acquainted with the culture of graduate school, and to learn what is needed and expected of them as graduate students in their discipline at the University of Illinois.

11. Boston University’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program

12. PREP summer program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison

The Psychology Research Experience Program (PREP) provides intensive mentoring and experience in scientific research and professional development to undergraduates from historically underrepresented populations – racial and ethnic students of color, low socio-economic status, and first-generation college students – who have expressed and demonstrated an interest in a career in scientific psychology. PREP features a balance of mentored laboratory research (approximately 30 hours/week) and a curriculum of scientific instruction, professional development and networking opportunities. It is supported by the National Science Foundation through its Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) mechanism.

13. Oklahoma State University REU Site: Biological Basis of Human and Animal Behavior

The goal of this program is to provide 12 undergraduate students with an in-depth, hands-on research experience focused on the biological basis of human and animal behavior. Students will be trained in the application of the scientific method to develop hypotheses, design and conduct research studies involving either animal or human subjects.  Students will also be trained in the responsible conduct of research. Students will be mentored by full-time, Ph.D.-level faculty members who are tenured/tenure-track faculty with strong programs of research.

Program dates: June 2, 2012-July 29, 2012

14. Michigan State University : SROP

MSU SROP Applications are now available for Summer 2012. Applications will be reviewed from November 1, 2011 through March 1, 2012.

15. Northwestern University:

The Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) is an eight-week competitive research experience at Northwestern University for sophomores and juniors from colleges and universities across the United States.

The application deadline is February 10, 2012. We will begin notifying applicants of the status of their applications as early as March 1, 2012.

16. Purdue University : SROP

The Purdue SROP has the goal of enhancing diversity in academic, government, and industry positions that require graduate degrees. It is our aim to encourage talented undergraduate students from social and economic backgrounds that are underrepresented in research careers to pursue graduate education, and to enhance their preparation for graduate study. This program involves intensive research experiences with faculty mentors. All qualified students, including but not limited to African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, and Native American, are encouraged to apply. Participants will be selected on the basis of their interest in pursuing a doctoral degree, relevant college coursework and grades, letters of recommendation, and their ability to contribute to the goal of the program. The program is supported by the Graduate School, Center for Cancer Research, Alliance for Graduate Education and Professoriate and other groups on the Purdue campus.
